Donald W. Ostertag graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2007. During law school, Professor Ostertag served as the editor-in-chief of the Thomas Jefferson Law review, and also clerked for the California Attorney General, the United States Attorney, and for the Honorable Justice Gilbert Nares of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District. In 2008 he joined the California Department of Justice as a Deputy Attorney General. In that capacity, he has prosecuted a large number of criminal appeals in the state and federal courts. He has briefed and argued numerous cases in the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also serves on the office's trial team and has tried a number of jury trials throughout the state.
