Besides the buzz about the Padres baseball game people were also talking about the fun fact that  Michael Weiner ‘09 was in charge of grilling the hot dogs.

“Ha ha! It cracks me up that Michael Weiner is BBQ-ing the wieners,” said Michael Jonas ‘09.

“As if I haven’t been hearing that all day.” Weiner said.

TJSL students, faculty, staff and some admitted students came together on Saturday, April 21, to enjoy the Annual Alumni Tailgate party and to watch the Padres beat the Phillies and Roy Halladay 5-to-1.

Past Alumni President Sabrina Green ‘02 once again brought everything together for the tailgate party, including drinks, food and bags of peanuts and M&M’s for the game.

Professor William Slomanson was excited that all four of his ’teammates’ were with him to share the day. ”It’s not often that I can spend the day at the ballpark with all of my kids.” Those kids include Lorena Slomanson ‘03 and Michael Slomanson ‘04.

Alumni Relations Director, Vanessa Vandever, Alumni Board member Phil Shapiro ‘85 and Director of Admissions, Tim Spearman took a few minutes away from enjoying their nachos to snap a few photos at the game. “I look forward to this event every year, it’s a lot of fun,” Vandever said.

The next Alumni Tailgate & Baseball game takes place when the Padres take on the Giants on Saturday, September 29.
