Thomas Jefferson School of Law alumna Diane Alkais ’08 teamed up with Student Services Director Lisa Ferreira and Student Services Assistant Director Angela Bayne to present on July 13 at the 35th Annual conference of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), held this year in New Orleans, LA.  Alkais is the Director of Student Services at Phoenix School of Law.

Their presentation, titled “Demystifying Law School: A Review of Policy, Practices, and Best Outcomes,” focused on perceived barriers for students with disabilities and the application process for accommodations for the LSAT, law school examinations, as well as the bar examination.

The TJSL team discussed the unique culture of law school including the law school admissions test, admission, accommodations in law school, and the bar examination. Panelists shared their scenarios and discussed best practices from admission to the bar exam.

This year’s AHEAD conference was organized to develop professional competencies, challenge perspectives on disability, and influence practices by exploring how designing with intention leads to campus communities that are diverse, inclusive, accessible, and equitable - standards to which TJSL is committed.
