Jeremy M. Evans is the Managing Attorney at California Sports Lawyer, representing sports and entertainment professionals in contract drafting, negotiations, licensing, and career growth. He provides legal advice and general counsel services for businesses, which includes development, contract drafting, review, negotiations, protection, and compliance. Evans is the Director of the Center for Sports Law & Policy (CSLP) at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, where he resides. The CSLP is a Fellowship with 80+ law student Fellows, who must complete a rigorous educational and career-based sports law program to earn a Certificate in Sports Law & Policy upon graduation. Every September, the CSLP hosts the National Sports Law Negotiation Competition (NSLNC), a nationally recognized sports law competition. Evans is the Founder and Director of the NSLNC.
He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with an emphasis in American Politics. He earned his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association (2010-2011), and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper (2009-2010), The Jeffersonian. In 2010, he was presented with the “Member of the Year Award,” by the Student Bar Association. In 2011, he was presented with the “Service & Commitment Award,” by Thomas Jefferson School of Law. As a law student, he competed three times in the National Baseball Arbitration Competition (NBAC), held in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the now the Coach for the NBAC Competition Team from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, which won the National Championship in 2012.
After graduation from law school, Evans was elected to the Alumni Association Board of Directors for Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2012. He was elected President of the organization for the 2014-2015 term and re-elected for the 2015-2016 term. He has also been elected and served as Vice President (2013-2014) and chair of various committees. Evans was recently presented with the "2014 A. Thomas Golden Honorary Alumnus of the Year Award," as selected by the Thomas Jefferson School of Law alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
Prior to opening California Sports Lawyer, Evans worked as a Graduate Law Clerk at the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, advising Judicial Officers in civil and criminal law and motion. During law school, he interned for the Office of the Public Defender, County of San Diego, and a constitutional law litigation firm. The latter of which he had the opportunity to assist in drafting several U.S. Supreme Court briefs. Prior to law school, he worked in finance for the number one business-only litigation firm in the world, Quinn Emanuel Uquhart & Sullivan LLP, in Los Angeles, California. Prior to that, he worked as a legislative aide and field representative for California State Senator George Runner, 17th District (Retired), and Senator Runner’s wife, Assemblywoman Sharon Runner, 36th District (Retired). In 2013, Evans earned a Certificate from the National Institute of Politics as a Certified Political Consultant-Campaign Manager. He has assisted with some local campaigns in San Diego.
Jeremy M. Evans is a Licensed Attorney with the State Bar of California and may practice law before all courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
